DISC is a profiling to use to allow people to learn about their natural behavioural style environment. It is based on four styles behaviour, most people having one of her two most natural styles from the four.
DiSC is an acronym for the four primary dimensions of behaviour and styles we use at work and beyond: DiSC Model Performance Partners Ireland.
Dominance – direct, results-oriented, strong-willed and forceful.
Influence – outgoing, enthusiastic, optimistic and lively.
Steadiness – even-tempered, accommodating, patient and humble.
Conscientiousness – analytical, reserved, precise and systematic.
DiSC profiles help those who work in HR, Learning and Development people, People-Managers, sales executives and those in teams, to eliminate misunderstanding and conflict that stop teams from working effectively together.
If you want your teams to work well, and colleagues to work effectively with you and to give their best, then you need to be aware of your behaviour and the impact you have on your work relationships. DiSC profiling makes this easy.
The DiSC model was developed by an eminent psychologist Dr William Moulton Marston. He wanted to look at the model to help with the understanding of the emotions normal people as they interacted with their environment.
In today's business world this is a fantastic way to understand human behaviour in the workplace, allowing people to reflect on their natural tendencies and how they interact with work colleagues regardless of role. It also allows people to understand needs, motivations, goals and fears of individuals in the workplace as they perform in their job.
We use DiSC in leadership, management, teams, sales and customer service.
The Everything DiSC circumflex model.
This disc has evolved over many years, the current generation of rich applications offer deep validity (through adaptive testing) in people's profile readings and also a whole variety of applications in the workplace.
Understanding others in the workplace.
All good learning about others starts with understanding yourself, understanding your needs and also understanding tendencies. Once we have done this it is easier to understand how we might need to adapt when building relationships with other people in the workplace.
Everything disc now comes with comparison reports. These free reports allow us to understand other people through being paired in a report showing us how to work better with them, and showing them how they could work better in understanding us and working more effectively and efficiently together on a team.
Understanding others through people reading.
It's very important that we don't just flex our style but that we also flex our understanding and acceptance of other people. The process of this includes moving from judging to understanding to respecting, appreciating and ultimately valuing others based on their DiSC style and overall character.
There are a variety of tools and methods that you learn during training or that you teach on your course that will help them with more clarity and people reading, based on the DiSC model.
DiSC in the Round.
Using the circumflex model of disc we can compare ourselves with our co-workers, with people we manage and lead and with customers whom we interact with either in sales or in service interactions. The customer interaction maps which come free with the DISC sales profile allows salespeople to profile the customers online and to see how they compare with the needs and motivations of people whom they want to buy from them during the sales cycle.
