The X Factor & EQ
Emotional Intelligence & The Baron EQi Approach.
The emotional intelligence of your people is a core component of how they build and sustain key relationships in your business.
The EQ of an individual will influence enormously the way in which they can grapple with information, and make informed choices and quality decisions in the business. People’s EQ varies a lot.
In performance Partners, we have specialists who can help you to assess the EQ of your people, and also to help them through training and coaching, to build the core skills required to become emotionally intelligent leaders, sales people and team players who produce outstanding results again and again.
We only use validated industry credible EQ tools and profiling.
Without emotional intelligence, people may fail to build the relationships that are at the core of all successful ‘people-based’ businesses where the customer must perceive and receive value.
(a) What is EQ?
In his book “Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ” (1995), Daniel Goleman defined Emotional Intelligence (EI) as the “capacity for recognising our own feelings and those of others, for motivating ourselves, and for managing emotions well in ourselves and our relationships.” Since then, considerable research has shown that EI is a significant determinant of success in many occupations, and often more significant than traditional Intelligence.
Ever wonder why the smartest kids in class aren’t always the most successful later on? It’s because intellect isn’t enough. Many otherwise smart people lack emotional intelligence (EQ), the skill set people need to access their own best performance and to interact successfully with others.
(b) Coaching using EQ.
Many leaders are asked to pay attention to their emotional intelligence these days. To do so, they need a way to find out what it is and how they can get more of it. IQ by itself is not a strong predictor of workplace performance. The challenge is, many high performers get to senior roles based on IQ, despite lacking essential management skills.
Coaching with the EQi can help leaders to see past their blind spots. It shows them how to develop the emotional skill to go beyond limiting behaviours and offers the support to create new more effective ways of being.
(c) Tools, BarOn EQ. What It is?
Using a simple but powerful assessment tool (called the EQI), it is now possible to measure an individual’s total EI and a wide variety of content subscales including their levels of; self-regard, assertiveness, self-awareness, independence, self-actualization, empathy, interpersonal relationships, reality testing, flexibility, problem solving, stress tolerance, impulse and several general mood indicators. This information can then be used to target coaching and development to raise their effectiveness in the areas that will contribute the most to their success.
(d) What you get.
The EQI 2 is an online assessment that can be completed in less than 30 minutes. The report is then returned to the coach who processes the results. The Coach and client then arrange an hour long coaching session to debrief the client, and outline a strategy to further develop the most relevant EQ skills.
